How can I find the manufacturer of a french country antique cabbage rose quilt?
I am looking for the manufacturer of a french chic antique cabbage rose or also known as english rose garden quilt. I have found this quilt on Ebay and Overstock .com. On Overstock .com catalog #10087542. I also have a model #GL-WB0726.
This is a beautiful quilt with an antique tea background. With a romantic French blend of colors including melon rose and pink roses, butter yellow, sage green, rose and a touch or French periwinkle blue. It has several prints consisting of roses, wildflowers, vintage roses, and cabbage roses along with a ticking stripe and garlands of flowers.
I want to find the manufacturer to inquire about purchasing fabric to make window treatments. According to the two vendors I have found to have this item there are none available.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t find the manufacturer for you. An alternative is to take samples of the fabric (say, the shams) with you to a quilt shop and try to find something similar, or at least complementary. That style is very similar to some popular fabrics currently available. Check out Hancocks of Paducah, an excellent online quilting and home decorating fabric store. Search or browse through the florals. One designer in particular to check out is Three Sisters by Moda fabrics. They have several lines that have a similar feel. Check out Faded Memories, the Three Sisters Favorite (especially Paris Flea Market), and Seaside Rose. These are just the ones available through Hancocks – also check out eBay for Moda Three Sisters, Gingham Rose, or ask your local quilt shop if they have any of these lines (or similar fabrics).

Patchwork Heritage Quilt Shows Patriotic Pride through Tradition
Since the days of old when our ancestors were crossing the ocean in order to immigrate to the new world, American quilting tradition has been evolving. Women from every country contributed ideas, patterns and styles that eventually combined into one basic American style of quilting that was totally unique and strikingly attractive. This style came to be known as patchwork.
Before the industrial revolution fabric was prohibitively expensive. Cost was almost always the deciding factor of what style, color, quality of fabrics and pattern would be used in the making of the quilt. All pre industrial revolution homes came equipped with a scrap bag. As fabric was such a precious commodity, every bit was saved. Homes almost never bought fabrics with the sole purpose of quilting in mind. Scraps were always use, hence the creation of the patchwork quilt.
Patchwork quilts reflect our nation’s economic and political times. When our country was new and the industrial revolution had yet to take place, quilting patters were haphazard. As our nation grew and prospered, patterns became recognizable. With time patterns grew to become incredibly intricate. Soon, women began making statements through quilting. Red, white and blues appeared in quilts during war time to show patriotic pride.
When westward expansion took place women began creating state quilts. Eventually, quilts began to reflect political preferences, major life events and economic times. When our country unionized and labor laws were enacted, many women showed their support by sewing together red, white and blue patches in incredibly intricate patterns. American flag patterns are popular during times of political strife, low economic times and war.
Today quilting has tapered off as a national pastime for women. While quilting is not as popular as it once was, quilts themselves are more highly valued than ever. Many of us can appreciate the tradition and heritage of the American patchwork quilt. Recently, a new patriotic commemorative quilt was created to help Americans in need. Will bleach ruin something that took me over 6 months to make?!?!??!
I made this quilt for my boyfriend for our one year anniversary with all of these cool memories on it. well, i was patching up a hole in it and i noticed that there’s this weird blue stain on it. he says that its a spot from where his paintball gun leaked. i mean, it just looks like blue candy or toothpaste or something… but anyway, i need to get it out. what’s the best way? i thought about using a mild detergent and just trying that or i could try a little bleach. it’s on a cream fabric. will bleach discolor the fabric? I don’t want to ruin this very special blanket… but at the same time, this blue has got to go!! HELP!!
Do not use bleach – chlorine bleach will fade the quilt. It sounds crazy, but hairspray might do the trick. I’ve used it to remove ink that was over a year old. The thing is, you need to get to the underside of the stain, so if the stain goes all the way through the quilt, go ahead and use this method. If it’s only on one side, spraying it and blotting it will cause the stain to bleed through to the other side as well. You could still get it out, but it will be a lot more work. Spray it with hairspray until the spot is saturated, then blot with a cloth until most of the stain is gone. Wash it immediately. If some of the stain is still there, repeat.
