What should I line my homemade shower curtain with?
I have made a patchwork curtain like you would a quilt top. I feel like I should line it with something. Maybe something fusible? … or not worry about it. I will have a separate plastic liner.

You have so many options. There are blackout, sheer, silken, and etc. choices. Most can be simply pinned, then glued, to the curtain with fabric glue. Straight Plastic is an option, but I would worry about the after effects on your fine work. In other words, make sure you purchase a liner that won’t bleed (preshrunk).

???QUILTING??? What do you do with all your loose threads on the underside of your patch work?
…are your seams and is the underside of your patch work tidy? what do you do to tidy-up? I was just wondering because some people are just as fastidious with the never-seen underside of their patchwork as they are with the top side and I want mine to be tidy too (and not a birds nest).
also… in regards to securing each seam: do you let your seam run-off and then just catch it up with the next intersecting seam? some people adjust the stitch length to very small at the beginning and end of their seams, but this seems too tedious and time consumming. …I know not to backstitch because it adds bulk, but what about knotting each seam? that sounds tedious and time consumming too. hmmm …what do you do with your seams?
For piecing, I have finally learned to clip thread tails as I go. It takes less time and I am more apt to do it if it’s just a part of the piecing process. A messy back with lots of thread tails hanging can be a problem if your piecing thread is dark and you’ve used light colored quilt fabric. The dark tails can “shadow” or show through to the top of the quilt.
There is no need to back stitch on the ends of seams. The next patch or block added will cross this seam and secure it. However, I do find that on the very outside edge of a quilt, sometimes it is necessary to back stitch so that the border seam lines don’t pull apart as I layer and baste the quilt sandwich. I usually use a stitch length of ’2′ on my machine and haven’t had any problems.
I can see no reason to knot at the ends of seams or use a machine’s ‘fix’ stitch. The end of one seam is always secured by another except at the outside edges.
